Rep. Peter McCoy Receives Award for Job-Creating Work from SC Chamber of Commerce: McCoy scores 100% on the Pro-Job Creating 2011 Legislative Scorecard

Monday, August 1, 2011

Columbia, SC - The South Carolina Chamber of Commerce announced today that Representative Peter McCoy (Republican, James Island/Folly Beach) has been awarded a 2012 Business Advocate Award for his 100% pro-jobs legislative record from the 2011 session.

Based on 17 major business-related bills from Tort Reform to Government Restructuring to Employer Free Speech, the Chamber graded State Senators and Representatives and issued the awards. McCoy was only 1 of 6 representatives out of the state's 124 House members to vote in favor of all 17 pro-business bills, which pave the way for job creation.

"Jobs come from economic growth and economic growth comes from thriving small businesses and job-creating local businesses," McCoy stated in accepting the award. "I am humbled and honored to be recognized for fighting for new jobs and fighting for existing businesses to keep jobs in these tough times."

"As good as these 17 bills will be for our state's economy, our work is not over. I will continue to sponsor and vote for legislation that gets our neighbors back to work and moves South Carolina towards becoming the most business-friendly state in the nation and, as such, the jobs leader," added McCoy.
